Europe's largest airline is expanding its 737 order book to 210 aircraft.
737-8 high-capacity jet to help the recovery and future growth of Ryanair with better fuel efficiency and environmental performance.
Deliveries will begin in early 2021 and last until December 2024.

Boeing and Ryanair today reported that the largest airline in Europe is placing a firm order for 75 additional 737 MAX aircraft, raising its order book to 210 jets. The 737 8-200, a higher-capacity variant of the 737-8, was again picked by Ryanair, citing the additional seats of the aircraft and enhanced fuel efficiency and environmental performance.

The Boeing team was joined by O'Leary and Ryanair representatives for a signing ceremony in Washington, D.C. Both companies recognized the near-term effects of COVID-19 on air travel, but expressed trust in the long-term stability and strength of passenger demand.
As soon as the COVID-19 virus recedes, and with the introduction of multiple effective vaccines in 2021, Ryanair and our partner airports across Europe will rapidly restore flights and schedules with these environmentally efficient aircraft, recover lost traffic and help the nations of Europe restore their tourism industries and get young people back to work across the city.
For the high-capacity 737-8 version, Ryanair is the launch customer, having placed its first order for 100 aircraft and 100 options in late 2014, followed by firm orders for 10 aircraft in 2017 and 25 in 2018. The 737 8-200 will allow Ryanair to customize its 197-seat aircraft, increase revenue potential and decrease fuel consumption by 16 percent compared to previous aircraft.

For these 75 Boeing 737 MAXs, which will be added to the 135 units already ordered by Ryanair, neither Boeing nor Ryanair wanted to disclose the agreed price. In total, that is 210 MAX over a five-year cycle, the first of which will be delivered next year, two years behind the initial timetable. The list price of the 737 MAX, about 125 million dollars, remains the only indicator of the value of the offer. However, it is likely that Ryanair is not even going to spend half that amount. Since, as announced earlier this month by Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary, this latest order is part of a global agreement with Boeing on reimbursement for delays in delivery.
