The Board of Directors of the company has named Dieter Vranckx as the current CEO of SWISS. On 1 January 2021, he will resume his new duties. Since 1998, Dieter Vranckx has held different management roles within the airline industry. He can also look back on some 20 years with the Lufthansa Party, like SWISS and Swissair for more than 13 years respectively. He succeeds Thomas Klühr, who at the end of this year will leave the company.
On 1 January 2021, Dieter Vranckx will assume the role of CEO of Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS). Since 1999, Dieter Vranckx, who is 47, has held various management positions within the airline industry. He can also look back on some 20 years with the Lufthansa Party, like SWISS and Swissair for more than 13 years respectively. He is currently the CEO of Brussels Airlines, a member of the Lufthansa Group, a role he took up at the beginning of this year, having joined the company in May 2018 as CFO and Deputy CEO. He served as Vice President Asia-Pacific for the Lufthansa Group for the previous two years, in charge of the overall sales and marketing activities of the country for all group airlines (Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines and Eurowings) based in Singapore.
Dieter Vranckx served as SWISS Vice President of Sales & Marketing for its home markets in Switzerland, Germany and Austria from 2013 to 2016. Prior to this, he spent three years as the Chicago-based Regional Director, US Midwest & Canada, of Lufthansa Freight. From 2006 to 2009, he was Vice President of Asia, Middle East & Africa for Swiss WorldCargo. From 2004 to 2006, as SWISS's Vice President of Sales for the Asia Pacific region, he was based in Hong Kong. He has also previously worked as Network Planning Europe Senior Manager and Head of Business Development for Swissair and SWISS.
Dieter Vranckx holds a master's degree from the Solvay Business School (Université Libre de Bruxelles) in Business Administration. He also completed an Advanced Management Program at the London Business School in 2007 and a further Advanced Management Program at the Lausanne IMD Business School in 2016.
